Pilates is beneficial before and after all types of birth and we’ll support you in whatever direction you take – but this online course is about more than “just” Pilates. Preparing for a positive pregnancy, birth experience and postnatal recovery is really important for every mum-to-be. We want to give you the tools to make that a reality.
“I genuinely believe Grace’s classes kept me fit, healthy and relaxed leading to the best and most natural birth experience I could have ever hoped for, as well as starting life as a mum in a strong position.” Hannah
Grace absolutely loves working with women at this wonderful time and she’s passionate about giving you the tools for a healthy pregnancy, birth and beyond! She’ll support you through your pregnancy, from the physical changes you experience to any challenges you face in both body and mind. She’s well trained for the role (find out more here) and her experience in hypnobirthing and as a doula are reflected in her style of teaching.
If you’re pregnant, this is for you! You can start the course at any point after thirteen weeks into your pregnancy – and it’s never too late!
You can continue with the classes right up until you give birth, as we’ll adapt the support as the pregnancy progresses. We’ve been known to work with clients right up until the day they give birth (one client called Grace the baby whisperer as she went into labour on the day of her Pilates class – with two pregnancies!).
After your baby’s been born, you might want to think about transitioning to our Pilates for New Mums classes (babies are welcome!).
Birth, Body & Beyond online classes include:
Our Pilates for Pregnancy online classes include:
Using restorative Pilates and yoga-based movement we’ll address postural changes and demands throughout each trimester, help you to maintain strength, connect you to your breath and relieve tension. We’ll also create awareness of your pelvic floor and abdominals, working with you to set a foundation in deep abdominal strength to support your baby. Grace has plenty of experience in working with pregnancy-related conditions including diastasis recti, pelvic floor dysfunction (including prolapse), pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, back and neck problems and carpal tunnel syndrome.
These classes will also introduce you to positions for labour, breathing techniques and other support to prepare your body and mind for your birthing experience and beyond.
For the online course, your investment is £140 for all of this invaluable learning and access to safe and enjoyable pregnancy exercise.
You’ll also need a few bits of equipment to join the class (a spiky massage ball, a theraband and a “magic” fascial release ball). If you already have these or want to source them yourself – great! Alternatively you can add them to your order when you book (£25 for the equipment bundle).Using restorative Pilates and yoga based movement, my prenatal Pilates and birth preparation programmes are structured to:
Due to the current world health situation, these classes are only being offered online at the moment. We hope to start seeing people face to face again in the future!
Mondays at 7.15 pm (online)
What should I wear? Anything that you feel comfortable in! As long as you can move easily it doesn’t matter what you are wearing. Sometimes it is worth bringing layers as you might warm up throughout the class!
How many people will be in the class? We book a maximum of ten mums onto our pregnancy classes to make sure you get plenty of individual tuition.
Do I have to buy a block of classes? We believe block bookings are the best way to ensure you really see the benefit of the sessions, so we only book this way. We don’t take drop-ins because we want to screen you fully before you start so we can get to know your body and make sure that you get the most out of the classes.
What will I need? An exercise mat and some water. You’ll also need a few bits of equipment to join the online class (a spiky massage ball, a theraband and a “magic” fascial release ball). If you already have these or want to source them yourself – great! Alternatively you can add them to your order when you book (£25 for the equipment bundle).
If you’re joining a face to face class (rather than online) we’ll provide this additional equipment.
Is there parking at the venue for face to face classes? Yes, St Michael’s Memorial Hall has a large car park. Please be aware there is another class straight after and bear that in mind when parking!
Can all pregnant women attend these classes? We’ll screen you fully before you come along to the sessions. Some medical conditions mean we may request consent from your doctor or midwife before you come to the class to ensure the safety of you and your baby. In very rare circumstances, your doctor may advise you not to exercise during your pregnancy. Unfortunately in these cases the classes won’t be suitable for you.
“Grace is an excellent teacher, always full of energy and really caring. She is genuinely interested in every lady in her class and is hugely supportive adapting exercises for anyone that needs it at that particular time and will adapt each week as required.”
“I know that my postnatal body will recover much quicker second time around! Don’t hesitate to join her classes, she’s very talented and most other Pilates teachers won’t compare!”
“The pregnancy classes were the highlight of my week!”
“The class really helped me in birth preparation & I was able to use the relaxation techniques & stretches in labour & having done the class since 4 months pregnant it was second nature at a time when you aren’t always thinking clearly!”
