I’m not sure there is a mum alive who hasn’t been there. When you are feeling frazzled, creating enough time and space for yourself just doesn’t seem possible. There is always something else going on – another birthday party to get the kids to, another family event to attend, the list never ends.

But that’s exactly the point. The list doesn’t end so by giving yourself just one day where noone can reach you, where you have the time and the space to truly rest, where you aren’t needed by anyone and everything you need is right there, you are giving both yourself and your family a gift of mum who doesn’t feel at the end of her tether!

Now I do feel I need to add in that ideally you will start to create a little time and space for yourself every day. When you come to the retreat and you see the difference it makes to you, I hope you will be inspired to do that. But let’s start with just this one day. For you.

Over the course of this Hertfordshire based Re-Treat Day for mums we will focus on Centred Mums’ three key pillars to help bring you back to balance and feeling centred.

BREATHE

In this day of peace and rest, you will learn and practice cutting edge breath work techniques, restorative Pilates, enjoy incredible, nourishing food and have the option to receive deep body work to super charge your body’s systems, bring in balance, relax and reboot the body and mind.

I’m SO excited to be teaming up with local businesses My BackYard Kitchen to provide you with a nourishing lunch and an afternoon superfood snack to leave you feeling energised and refreshed. I can’t wait to eat all of this delicious food, it’s going to be a real highlight!

MOVE

In between the Pilates and breath sessions you can enjoy woodland walks in the heart of the beautiful Essendon countryside and there will also be the option to have spa treatments at an additional cost.

Pilates mats, balls, bolsters and blankets are all provided but you are more than welcome to bring your own equipment should you prefer.

11. 30 am Arrival

Arrive at the beautiful Cucumber Fields and enjoy herbal tea to get you ready for the day ahead.

11.45am – Pilates class with Grace from Centred Mums

Energising Pilates class with Grace, focusing on standing work and functional movement to energise and revitalise you before moving on to release and relaxation.

1.00 pm – Lunch provided by My Backyard Kitchen (with opportunity for massages)

Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the team at My Backyard Kitchen and take some time to walk around and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Cucumber Fields.

Ella Oliver Re-treat Yourself!

2.30 pm – Group coaching session with Ella Oliver

Ella Oliver is a fantastic breath work teacher, reiki master and coach. She has helped me so much with my wellbeing since lockdown and I can’t wait to introduce her to you! Group coaching offers a supportive environment where participants can share experiences and learn from each other, fostering a sense of community and collective growth.

4pm – Break with a superfood snack

4.15 pm – Reiki Drumming Relaxation session with Ella Oliver

Reiki drumming uses drum sound waves to deepen Reiki energy in a client’s energy field, promoting deep relaxation and stress relief. This method can release physical tension and has been shown to double meditative brainwaves (alpha) and reduce stress. It harmonizes the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies, enhancing the body’s natural healing abilities.

I’m Grace, mum of two and owner of Centred Mums. I have been teaching Pilates classes for 13 years but during lockdown I started to feel I really needed to look after my mental health as well as my physical health with all the pressure we were all under. Working on myself in therapy, starting a breathing practice and being more conscious about my wellbeing had such a huge impact on both me and my family that I wanted to share some of what I had learned with my Pilates clients. I started running retreat days in 2021 when we were coming out of lockdown as a way to give my clients some time to themselves after the madness of Covid and they have been so wonderful! I leave every one feeling on top of the world and I know that everyone who attends does too!

The day will run from 11.30am-5.30pm.

11.30am – Arrival

11.45am – Pilates class with me focusing on release and gentle strength work

1pm – Lunch (with opportunity for massages – you will also be able to get these in the morning before the day officially starts)

2.30pm – Group coaching session with Ella Oliver

4pm – Break for superfood snack

4.15pm – Reiki drumming relaxation session with Ella Oliver

5.15pm Round up

5.30pm – FInish
