Pilates for New Mums

Babies welcome!

Mum and Baby Postnatal Pilates classes specifically created for your positive postnatal recovery.

If you want to restore your core and pelvic floor, gain strength and understanding of your new body and receive expert advice and support about the postnatal phase, this is the class for you!

“This has been such a positive experience for me compared to last time, I’m so grateful that you found space for me in your classes!” Jo M

Mum and Baby Postnatal Pilates classes are for you if:

  • You’ve had a baby in the last nine months and would love the chance to exercise without organising childcare.
  • You want to connect to your pelvic floor and abdominals.
  • You want to release tension while regaining stability and strength.
  • You’re interested in learning techniques to support your posture and everyday activities with your baby.
  • You’re worried about issues like abdominal separation, pelvic floor dysfunction or PGP.
  • You want to gain a deeper understanding of your postnatal body.
  • You want to learn how to exercise safely for your pelvic floor and abdominals.
  • You want to learn how to build up to more intense exercise.
  • You’ve had your initial GP check and been given clearance to exercise.

Please let me know if you had any specific postnatal problems. I have twelve years of experience in supporting new mums with a range of postnatal conditions including abdominal separation (diastasis-recti), pelvic floor dysfunction, sacroiliac problems, pelvic girdle pain, pelvic organ prolapse and back pain.

I’ll screen you thoroughly before we begin, so I can get to know your body and understand what you hope to achieve from the sessions.  Then group classes will respond to your individual needs. We will combine myofascial release techniques and restorative movement with more traditional strengthening exercises to challenge and support you through this period of transition.

If you are facing a specific issue, you may choose to start with some private classes, either on Zoom or in person, before moving into a group situation. Please email hello@centredmums.com to discuss your particular needs, you can find more information about one-to-one sessions here You may also be interested in our Centred Postnatal Recovery online course.

FAQs

What should I wear? As long as you are comfortable and can move easily, it doesn’t matter what you are wearing. You may warm up through the class, so it is worth considering layers that you can remove easily.

How many people will be in my class? I book a maximum of ten mums onto our postnatal classes to make sure you get plenty of individual tuition.

Do I have to buy a block of classes? I believe block bookings are the best way to ensure you really see the benefit of the sessions, so only take bookings this way. I don’t take drop-ins because I want to screen you fully before you start. This way I can get to know your body and make sure that you get the most out of the classes. If you do miss a class, there may be a chance to make it up at another one of our classes within the same block. Please let me know with at least a week’s notice and we’ll do our best to fit you into another class on the timetable.

What will I need? You’ll need an exercise mat and some water along with several pieces of equipment – a spiky massage ball, a TheraBand and a ‘magic’ fascial release ball. If you don’t already own these items, you have the option of adding our £38 Equipment Bundle to your order when you book.

Can I bring my baby? Yes, babies are very welcome – but this mum and baby Pilates class is all about you. You’re welcome to get childcare and enjoy the class alone if you prefer. If you do have your baby with you, they shouldn’t be involved in any of the exercises.

Testimonials:

Clare C

“Grace was incredibly supportive throughout my pre and postnatal period not only through the Pilates but with general well-being as well. I don’t think I would have felt like ‘normal’ me as quickly as I did without her classes.”

Melanie O’Hara

“Grace and her classes are amazing! After my second baby the gap between my stomach muscles were 5 fingers wide. With her help and her great classes, I managed to restore my core strength and closed the gap completely!”

Kathy Ede

“Grace has a wonderful manner and knows so much about how pregnancy affects our bodies. As well as targeting my core and helping my baby related back issues, her classes are fun and friendly.”
