Grace has been so privileged to serve hundreds of pregnant and postnatal women over the last 10 years and is very thankful for the regular recommendations that Centred Mums receives. Here are just a few of the lovely testimonials received.
“I’ve really enjoyed the course. To be honest, I wasn’t all that clear on what I was signing up for and what it would be like. But it’s been great. The videos are so useful for keeping up practice and ideas.”
“I’ve really enjoyed the course. To be honest, I wasn’t all that clear on what I was signing up for and what it would be like. But it’s been great. The videos are so useful for keeping up practice and ideas.
Also, the clips with professionals are great for adding specialist insight to recovery. Especially for c section. I am loving Pilates too. It is perfect for postnatal recovery.
I’ve valued your expertise at constructing tailored pilates exercises for individual post-natal recovery, especially recovering from a c section. I’ve also really valued the holistic approach to wellbeing which the course has provided, drawing from a range of specialists in post-natal care.
The videos (filmed at the pace of the class) provide prompts to practice in your own time to support the re-strengthening process.
Basically, I’ve loved it. I reckon the NHS should fund your course for all women post-natally, but especially those who’ve had a c section.”
“I just wanted to say thank you for all you have done to help me feel connected to myself again. This is the happiest post-pregnancy start I have ever had and that’s saying something after having the Twins!”
“I just wanted to say thank you for all you have done to help me feel connected to myself again. This is the happiest post-pregnancy start I have ever had and that’s saying something after having the Twins!
You’ve done a brilliant job of providing a holistic and easily accessible care package for new mums. It has transformed how I feel about myself and the way you have put it together works really well for me because I can actually find the time to do some of it during the week after our class together.
The one-to-one was key for my better understanding of Pilates, so I can make the most of the group classes. The online videos of short key Pilates exercises has been great in giving me a way of regular practice. The other health professional’s advice interview have been key in my recovery and seeking help – prior to knowing you I didn’t know where to start in seeking help or really have a ‘normal’ expectation of my emotional and physical recovery.
This has been such a positive experience for me compared to last time, I’m so grateful that you found space for me in your classes!”
“As a personal trainer I was active throughout my pregnancy but found Graces class an invaluable addition to help me through all the changes you experience.”
“As a personal trainer I was active throughout my pregnancy but found Graces class an invaluable addition to help me through all the changes you experience. Her classes are small & friendly & she will work with any individual issues that arise on a weekly basis, so I was able to keep as comfortable as possible with the various aches & pains of pregnancy.
The class really helped me in birth preparation & I was able to use the relaxation techniques & stretches in labour & having done the class since 4 months pregnant it was second nature at a time when you aren’t always thinking clearly! I gained so much more from the classes than I expected & this was due to Graces extensive knowledge, experience & friendly & understanding approach as I went through this new experience.”
“I’ve been doing postnatal Pilates with Grace for half a year now and absolutely treasure my hour with her.”
“I’ve been doing postnatal Pilates with Grace for half a year now and absolutely treasure my hour with her. After I had my daughter, I worried about what exercises I should and shouldn’t be doing (my abs split and I worried about making it worse). I love that the classes are designed for Mums and have total confidence that everything Grace has us do will make us stronger. Grace is always correcting our technique (which makes me realise that I’ve been doing squats wrong for years) and is in tune with everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. I do feel stronger and I find her sessions really relaxing (and every Mum needs that hour of calm occasionally!).
I feel that Grace genuinely has her clients’ interests at heart. She felt tension in my stomach muscles and has given me a postnatal massage which had definitely helped. On her recommendation I’ve started to roll on a fascia release ball at home to release muscle tension which has been a revelation. Grace has also recommended some wonderful specialists to help with various other things for which I’m very grateful. If you are after a Pilates teacher who will treat you holistically, Grace is your lady. I very much recommend her.”
“I can’t recommend Grace and her antenatal Pilates classes highly enough.”
“I can’t recommend Grace and her antenatal Pilates classes highly enough. When booking them I saw them as a bit of a luxury, some ‘me’ time before the birth, but they soon became an essential part of my pregnancy both for birth preparation and recovery. Grace is an excellent teacher, always full of energy and really caring. She is genuinely interested in every lady in her class and is hugely supportive adapting exercises for anyone that needs it at that particular time and will adapt each week as required. Her tips for the early weeks post-partum have been invaluable and I can’t wait to start post-natal pilates with Grace.
I genuinely believe Grace’s classes kept me fit, healthy and relaxed leading to the best and most natural birth experience I could have ever hoped for, as well as starting life as a mum in a strong position.”
“I always look forward to attending Grace’s classes and I love how I feel after going to them.”
“I always look forward to attending Grace’s classes and I love how I feel after going to them. The aches have disappeared, my posture feels completely different and my mind is calmer. In addition Grace was the person who identified and has virtually fixed my diastasis recti (not the doctor). I can safely say if I hadn’t been for her I would still be suffering with backache. A wonderful class and one that I would highly recommend to anyone.”
“I have been going to Grace’s pregnancy group classes, the post-natal classes and had 1:1 sessions with her during my two pregnancies over the last couple of years.”
“I have been going to Grace’s pregnancy group classes, the post-natal classes and had 1:1 sessions with her during my two pregnancies over the last couple of years. Grace is the best pilates teacher I’ve ever had! She possesses an enormous wealth of knowledge on pregnancy and post-natal pilates, and she is constantly expanding this knowledge, for example, now into hypnobirthing.
Grace has a really calm presence and manner. I find the classes to be a time of relaxation as well as extremely informative. She’s really hands on during classes, ensuring that everyone is doing the exercises correctly and targeting the right muscles. I’m now coming towards the end of my second pregnancy and am looking forward to getting stronger and back into shape with Grace’s post-natal classes in the coming months!”
“I have been attending one of Grace’s classes for almost a year now after a recommendation from a friend.”
“I have been attending one of Grace’s classes for almost a year now after a recommendation from a friend. I had diastasis recti (separation of my abdominal muscles) following my first & second child so was keen to strengthen my core & know what I should & shouldn’t do in terms of regular exercise.
Grace has a wealth of postnatal knowledge. She’s very hands on in her classes – checking posture, correcting technique & making sure everyone is feeling the exercise in the right place!
Her classes focus a lot on breathing techniques & abdominal work to strengthen the core but also work on other areas of the body to support these muscles. We do a lot of muscle release work too. The class is relaxing & I go home having spent a full hour focusing purely on me & my body (a luxury with little children!)
I would highly recommend her class to anyone post natal ready to start some exercise & work towards regaining their pre pregnancy body & strength.”
“A knowledgeable teacher and a noticeable change in the body what’s there not to love!”
“A knowledgeable teacher and a noticeable change in the body what’s there not to love! Grace knows her stuff! Having suffered with diastasis recti resulting in a bad back for nearly 10 years, working with her over just a few sessions has stopped my back aching and also a noticeably stronger pelvic floor. She is very patient and keeps her classes small so she can give each student her time and energy. I found the initial 1-2-1 at home a really useful introduction to Pilates and myofascial release techniques. The videos on Facebook in between the sessions have been really useful too. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending Grace I just wish that I had used her a long time ago!”
“The pregnancy classes were the highlight of my week.”
“I attended Grace’s Pilates classes pre and postnatally. The pregnancy classes were the highlight of my week. When everything is changing so quickly with your body, Pilates really helped me feel more in control and physically stronger to manage those changes. I never suffered with any back pain during pregnancy and I think that is down to the Pilates classes I attended.
After my baby I felt the postnatal classes helped my body recover and get back to how it was pre pregnancy. Grace was incredibly supportive throughout my pre and postnatal period not only through the Pilates but with general well-being as well. I don’t think I would have felt like ‘normal’ me as quickly as I did without her classes.”
“I can honestly say throughout the 9 month journey the class was definitely the highlight of my week as it was ‘me’ time for body and mind.”
“As a keen runner and pilates goer pre pregnancy I was keen to continue doing exercise throughout my pregnancy. Grace’s sessions helped maintain my bodies suppleness during and post pregnancy and I can honestly say throughout the 9 month journey the class was definitely the highlight of my week as it was ‘me’ time for body and mind.
It was also a great way to chat, share stories and get to know other expectant mums to be.”
“Relaxed but very attentive instruction.”
“Really recommend Grace’s Pilates for Mums class. Relaxed but very attentive instruction. Properly tailored for post natal bodies (unlike some other classes). Small class numbers and lovely vibe to classes. Grace always seems to be developing her pilates repertoire which keeps it interesting and shows her real passion for pilates.”
“Her classes are small, calm, tailored to the individuals in the room and the highlight of my week!”
“I’ve been going to Grace’s classes for just 6 months having had 3 babies and I’m slowly regaining my core. Her classes are small, calm, tailored to the individuals in the room and the highlight of my week!”
“Don’t hesitate to join her classes, she’s very talented and most other Pilates teachers won’t compare!”
“I started working with Grace after my first baby. I was very out of shape, had undergone a c-section and was struggling with lots of body pains and problems. Straight away I was impressed by her depth of knowledge and expertise in post natal issues and how to tailor sessions to target my specific issues. Her sessions soon had an impact on helping me drastically improve my challenging body issues and restore my core, as well as helping me relax.
I couldn’t be without Grace’s Pilates now and I’m currently enjoying pregnancy Pilates with her. I know that my postnatal body second time round will recover much quicker this time! Don’t hesitate to join her classes, she’s very talented and most other Pilates teachers won’t compare!”
“Grace has a lovely, calm way which adds to the feeling of self-nurture during her classes which is so important during the postnatal period.”
“Grace helped me to restrengthen my core and close my DR which caused mild but acute lower back pain following the birth of my children. My lower back pain has completely gone. Grace has a lovely, calm way which adds to the feeling of self-nurture during her classes which is so important during the postnatal period. Definitely recommend!”
“Grace and her classes are amazing!”
“Grace and her classes are amazing! After my second baby the gap between my stomach muscles were 5 fingers wide. And with her help and her great classes, I managed to restore my core strength and closed the gap completely! She is amazing and so knowledgeable and experienced. Would definitely recommend!”
“Don’t hesitate to join her classes, she’s very talented and most other Pilates teachers won’t compare!”
“Grace is so brilliant at tailoring her classes for individual postnatal bodies. She is very knowledgeable and experienced and I found her pilates classes extremely beneficial after the birth of my second child – I am now planning to go back after the birth of my third. Highly recommend.”
“I love it and cannot recommend it enough. Grace is the perfect teacher.”
“I have been doing pregnancy Pilates since about week 25 and am now 34 weeks. I love it and cannot recommend it enough. Grace is the perfect teacher, very relaxing and attentive and tailors each exercise to your needs. Her enthusiasm and expertise in her work creates a calming and very enjoyable hour. They fly by so quick, I look forward to each class and feel the benefits straight away. I am looking forward to continuing after the birth.”
“Grace is an amazing teacher and I have loved my classes with her.”
“It would be difficult to overstate how much Pilates with Grace has helped me. After almost two decades of back pain I am now pain free. I am also stronger and more physically confident.
Grace is an amazing teacher and I have loved my classes with her. She creates a calm environment and listens. She has always focused on what I can do rather than what I can’t do and this positive approach really helped my rehabilitation. I do think Pilates is great but I also think Pilates with Grace is brilliant.”
“Learning pilates with Grace has been quite literally life-changing”
“Learning pilates with Grace has been quite literally life-changing – following painful problems with my lower back it has given me a new confidence.
My body shape has changed, and I feel stronger, more flexible and fitter all round. Grace’s teaching style is both sensitive and authoritative – she’s rigorous but never makes you feel that what you’re doing is a chore. Her classes are a brilliant way to reboot yourself physically while also acquiring a fantastic skill for life.”
“After training with Grace for six months, my body is completely different.”
“I had problems with a particularly stubborn protruding stomach after the birth of my second child. I had seen personal trainers, dieticians, physiotherapists, doctors, hernia specialists and even surgeons but to no avail. And then I met Grace… :o)
After training with Grace for six months, my body is completely different. At last don’t look five months pregnant! Apart from benefitting aesthetically, I am strong and limber and feel very fit . Another surprise was that my running and other sports activities have improved immensely since Pilates training, and I also get far fewer injuries. I will continue to sing the praises of Grace’s classes to people who notice my improved shape & fitness! Grace is a particularly experienced & intuitive instructor, who has a lovely calming presence!”
“With no hesitation, she is the best Pilates teacher and it would be very difficult to find another one like her!”
“When I started doing Pilates I was in a lot of pain and discomfort and was very weak. The way my body feels has definitely changed – my pelvic floor and abdominals are stronger. After less than 10 classes I have less of intense pain ( 5-6/10 not as before 8-9/10) and I am more flexible.
I have done Pilates before, with five different teachers, thinking that people want to honestly help. But now, comparing with Grace’s sessions I think I wasted my time and money before. Grace is there with me every second of my movement correcting and checking my posture constantly, making sure all the time that the bespoke exercises are comfortable to my needs. She understand exactly my problem with posture and injuries. With no hesitation, she is the best Pilates teacher and it would be very difficult to find another one like her!”
“Grace was amazing and really ‘listened’ to my body and the problems I was experiencing with it.”
“After the birth of my 2nd child I was having great difficulty with my body. My knees experienced great pain walking up stairs and my arms ached almost constantly from carpal tunnel syndrome. It was certainly having an impact on my enjoyment of those first few months of new motherhood. Grace was amazing and really ‘listened’ to my body and the problems I was experiencing with it and, by watching me perform some of the exercises, had some fantastic insights as to what was going on and how to rectify the problems I was experiencing. By practising the exercises that Grace gave me my carpal tunnel has pretty much disappeared. My knees are much stronger and no longer feel like they are going to collapse when I put weight on them climbing stairs. I feel so much stronger.
Apart from the obvious changes mentioned above I think that doing regular classes with Grace has changed the way that I do things overall. I now engage my core muscles when lifting things and climbing stairs for example. I think I have a better connection with my body – in that I do things with a mindfulness about what muscles I am using that I didn’t have before.
I have attended Pilates classes before as part of gym memberships. When I started with Grace I quickly realised that I had not actually been doing Pilates properly at all. She has an extremely visual way of explaining to you exactly what muscle you should be using which is fantastic. Often it is such a tiny movement and such an under used part of your musculature that in other classes I don’t think I knew what they were wanting us to do and just copied the movement. In Grace’s classes it hurts! You know you are doing things properly because you can feel it during the class, the next day and in the weeks to come as you find your body becoming much more user friendly.”
“When I started Pilates with Grace my back pain disappeared and I felt energised and relaxed”
“When I was 22 weeks pregnant I had been doing yoga twice a week, but started to feel my fitness levels were suffering and I had lower back pain from my growing belly. When I started Pilates with Grace my back pain disappeared and I felt energised and relaxed.
Pilates helped me stay limber and kept my posture in check, I therefore felt extremely good throughout my pregnancy and was able to stay active right up to labour day. My body felt healthier and stronger – labour is like running a marathon and you need to be adequately prepared, Pilates strengthened my body and in turn prepared me for the birth.
Without a shadow of a doubt, I credit Grace with helping me achieve a healthy pregnancy and prepare for an active labour and a home birth. Grace is a fantastic teacher, she takes the time to understand your individual needs, pregnancy aches and pains, and never pushes you past what your growing body can handle. I’m now looking forward to my remedial lessons and getting back into shape with Grace post baby.”
