Centred Mums provides specialist classes for pregnant and postnatal women in St Albans and online. Our classes are built around Pilates, but bring in all sorts of other elements from nutrition to relaxation and more, creating a supportive, non-competitive environment for you to develop your practice.
Centred Mums is here for you if you’re pregnant or have ever been pregnant (even if that was 20 years ago!) and are looking for advice and support in how best to stay active and connected to your body. If you have abdominal separation, pelvic floor issues (a little bit of wee is NOT normal!) or are unsure how to manage pain when exercising then please get in touch as we believe we can help you!
Centred Mums was founded by Grace Lillywhite. As the business has grown and flourished, she’s been joined by Joanna Michaelides in order to keep up with demand!
I’m the owner of Centred Mums, a series of exciting and innovative pregnancy and postnatal wellbeing programmes in St Albans. I founded the business to support women throughout their motherhood journey, and have been working with this wonderful population of women for over eight years. I can’t imagine doing anything more enjoyable or rewarding!
My primary focus is to let all women know that pregnancy and postnatal exercise, wellness and nutrition are VITAL and LIFE CHANGING. The way you treat your body during pregnancy and your postnatal years will stay with you for the rest of your life. I want to teach as many women as possible how to look after their pregnant and postnatal bodies, and how to connect to their body so they can exercise safely, effectively and in a way that is sustainable for the rest of their lives.
With the knowledge I’ve accumulated from my continuous professional development, my years of experience working with postnatal women and my own body after having two children, I’ve developed these teaching techniques to improve pelvic floor and abdominal function. I’ve successfully rehabilitated diastasis recti (using The Center Method), pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, sacroiliac joint problems, disc issues and general back pain in the pre and postnatal period. I’ve taught teacher training workshops for the Pilates Foundation and I was honoured to be asked to become part of the Faculty for The Center for Women’s Fitness. I’ve attended the following pregnancy and postnatal workshops:
I have attended the following pregnancy and postnatal workshops;
I’m currently working towards the Your Pelvic Matters pelvic floor specialist training– and I look forward to hopefully meeting you soon!
I started teaching for Centred Mums in 2019, and I’m passionate about the ethos of supporting women and reaching as many women as possible. I believe this work is vital!
I’ve been practising Pilates for over ten years, falling in love with this form of exercise after seeing the overwhelming benefits, both physically and mentally. I trained with Polestar Pilates, which works to the highest standard and encourages a holistic approach. I have a specialist interest in Women’s Health and have completed the following training:
I can’t wait to see you at one of our classes (in person or online) soon!
“I always look forward to attending Grace’s classes and I love how I feel after going to them. Grace was the person who identified and has virtually fixed my diastasis recti (not the doctor). I can safely say if I hadn’t been for her I would still be suffering with backache.”
“Grace is the best pilates teacher I’ve ever had! She possesses an enormous wealth of knowledge on pregnancy and post-natal pilates, and she is constantly expanding this knowledge.”
“I didn’t realise how important this kind of rehabilitation is for my body until I started the classes and it really was one of the best decisions I made during my maternity leave!”
